Children singing carols in the local shop.
Pantomeima - the school's Christmas show.
On the run up to christmas the children of Ysgol Beca are always very busy preparing a school show for the local community. This year was especially busy because the TV camera were present and filming our show because it was going to be published on a national television station. However busy we are we always find time to do something extra. This year we decided to go to the local shop and volunteer by singing Christmas carols and spreading Christmas joy. It was not our intention to raise money at this event, however passers by wanted to give us money. We accepted greatfully and donated the proceeds of £100 to the children's ward in a local hospital where two of the school's children had received treatment recently.
Children enjoying their Paella during our Spanish themed sleep over!
Back in the summer the children and staff of Ysgol Beca went on a trip to Tenby which is a local seaside town. While on a trip in the town we visited the lifeboat centre and had a very enjoyable time. We found out that their work was voluntary and that they did not receive any money from the government. Therefore we decided that we should do some volunteering activity in the school to help them with their work. Since we are working with 3 other countries and Mr Griffiths had just visited Spain we decided to hold a Spanish sponsored sleepover. The children and staff cooked a chicken paella danced a flamenco dance and ate a continental breakfast following the sleep over. Both the children and staff enjoyed this experience and Mr Griffiths was told that he was a noisy sleeper! Following the event the children managed to raise £360 for the lifeboat service and a cheque was presented to the charity by the school council.
HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES OF OUR VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN IN NEED.
On Friday the 18th November 2011 the children of Ysgol Beca held a fun day of volunteering in order to raise money for the national charity Children in Need. This charity works to help improve the lives of children who are disadvantaged. The children of the school baked cakes and decorated them in spots, wore mad clothes to school, some of the teacher came with their clothes on back to front, held a coffee afternoon, held guess how many sweets in the jar competition and had full a funny face competition. This was a fun packed and successful day. By the end of all the fund raising the children had raised £212 for the charity Children in Need.
