A letter in the jar

Hello
One of the Polish student had found the letter in the jar while we we cleaning the waste dump in Odense.
Here it is:

When your dreams start to seem so impossible,
when roadblocks are all you can see,
look beyond all the problems that face you
and focus on possibilities.

Don’t limit your thoughts to the present
or solutions you have learned from the past.
Remember to keep looking forward -
you may find the answer at last.

It is you who determines your future;
how your journey through tomorrow will be.
To fill all your days with adventure,
dare to see what no one else dares to see.

So never let obstacles stop you
or keep you from doing your part.
Have faith that your dreams are all possible,
if you truly believe in your heart.

***

Treat the earth well.
It was not given to you by your parents.
It was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.

***

Cherokee Prayer Blessing

May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.

International Marketplace in Odense

Today is the fourth day of our Comenius meeting in Odense. We have just had our International Marketplace. The Danish host families have taken some typical Danish food and each country has taken a sample of typical food from each area. It has been a magical night in which we have been able to breath a special atmosphere. Everyone was happy. Tomorrow we are saying goodbye to our Polish and Welsh friends. This Comenius meeting is turning out to be absolutely wonderful. To see all the photos click here.

Comenius Meeting in Murcia

Everything is ready for the next Comenius meeting. It will be again in Murcia Spain. Colegio Antonio de Nebrija will be receiving 47 students and teachers from Wales, Poland and Denmark. While they are here, they will be sharing experiences with the Spanish students and teachers and will do some activities. One the activities will be linked with volunteering and it will be the cleaning of a mountain and a beach. We will be received by the local authorities of Murcia and will have a chance to discover the charm of this nice town. We will also have time for fun because we will all go to the Nueva Condomina Stadium to watch a football match in which Real Murcia will play against Huesca. We will also have a typical Murcian dinner in the Spanish school and the rest of the countries will take a sample of typical food. We will also plant the Comenius Tree which will become a symbol in our project. As we had planted 200 bulbs of narciussses last Autumn - now it was time to harvest them.

In May - it`s time for money collection for  a hospice for cancer patients. Narciusius flower is a symbol of hope.
Our student with teachers have been spending whole Sunday to walk through ElblÄ…g town streets and they have been holding the street collection for hope.
We collected more than 150 Euro (more then 600 polish zloty)!
Congratulations!

VariousScenes from our Christmas Show.

Children singing carols in the local shop.

Pantomeima - the school's Christmas show.

On the run up to christmas the children of Ysgol Beca are always very busy preparing a school show for the local community. This year was especially busy because the TV camera were present and filming our show because it was going to be published on a national television station. However busy we are we always find time to do something extra. This year we decided to go to the local shop and volunteer by singing Christmas carols and spreading Christmas joy. It was not our intention to raise money at this event, however passers by wanted to give us money. We accepted greatfully and donated the proceeds of £100 to the children's ward in a local hospital where two of the school's children had received treatment recently.
Children enjoying their Paella during our Spanish themed sleep over!

Back in the summer the children and staff of Ysgol Beca went on a trip to Tenby which is a local seaside town. While on a trip in the town we visited the lifeboat centre and had a very enjoyable time. We found out that their work was voluntary and that they did not receive any money from the government. Therefore we decided that we should do some volunteering activity in the school to help them with their work. Since we are working with 3 other countries and Mr Griffiths had just visited Spain we decided to hold a Spanish sponsored sleepover. The children and staff cooked a chicken paella danced a flamenco dance and ate a continental breakfast following the sleep over. Both the children and staff enjoyed this experience and Mr Griffiths was told that he was a noisy sleeper! Following the event the children managed to raise £360 for the lifeboat service and a cheque was presented to the charity by the school council.

HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES OF OUR VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN IN NEED.

On Friday the 18th November 2011 the children of Ysgol Beca held a fun day of volunteering in order to raise money for the national charity Children in Need. This charity works to help improve the lives of children who are disadvantaged. The children of the school baked cakes and decorated them in spots, wore mad clothes to school, some of the teacher came with their clothes on back to front, held a coffee afternoon, held guess how many sweets in the jar competition and had full a funny face competition. This was a fun packed and successful day. By the end of all the fund raising the children had raised £212 for the charity Children in Need.
